“Thinking about my daughter’s experience at Belvoir leaves me deeply touched and filled with immense gratitude.  Coming out of a challenging and isolating school year due to COVID-19, and then to be able to have the incredible Belvoir experience was everything she needed and more.  I will forever be so incredibly grateful that this scholarship enabled us to make this a reality for her.  It’s hard to find the words that give justice to the amount of gratitude I have that she was able to experience this special opportunity. 

Sydney is an independent, quiet and introspective artist and ballet dancer.  She found Belvoir all on her own and it was the perfect place for her to flourish.  She felt loved, nurtured and safe from the minute she got there.  Diane and Nancy do an amazing job and go out of their way to make sure each camper feels special and at home and that the camp feels like family.  As an only child who at age 14 had never been away from us for more than a night or two, we were initially a little concerned about how Sydney would handle being away for so long.  Not only was she OK, but she thrived! We could hear the smile on her face during our weekly phone calls and her detailed letters reassured us when she didn’t have the words on the phone that she was having a powerful experience.  She was stepping out of her comfort zone on a daily basis and gaining confidence in new ways that she could only learn on her own and over time.  There’s nothing better than to experience your child growing like that and to see her beaming with happiness along the way! The instructors are incredible (some of the best in their field) and the counselors are attentive and warm and care deeply about the girls’ emotional well-being.   

When Sydney came home from camp you could visibly see a difference - she stood taller when she walked, and she spoke with more assertiveness.  Her counselor gushed to us about how beautiful it was to watch her come out of her shell.  She made deep friendships with the girls in her bunk that she cherishes and her commitment and passion for ballet and art has never been stronger.    

I could go on and on and on…. I just couldn’t recommend Belvoir more to anyone who has the opportunity!  We feel so blessed to be a part of this community.”
